When our son turned 2, I was hit with a spark of inspiration.
One of his favourite things was, and still is, his bike. He was gifted a strider bike (AKA balance bike) on his second birthday from his grandparents. Within 1 month of getting that bike he was off and riding.
My heart was in my mouth on many occasions as I watched him cruise down the sidewalk at top speed (for a 2 year old) without a fear or care in the world.
As I watched how he interacted with the world and enjoyed his imagination, adventure, and pure joy, I was inspired to write about his life and the things that excited him the most.
Three years later, I am proud to say that my first children’s story (and yes, there will be more), Sky Rider, is here!! http://strengthandsoul.com/press/
It’s a rhyming story that combines imagination with a little creativity and what you are left with is the perfect 21st Century children’s book for any child’s story collection. The main character, although based on my son, is gender neutral so any child can see themselves as the lead in this adventure. Up, up, and away!
The book will hit local bookstores and libraries here in Vernon in early November, just in time for Christmas!
I will be working on getting it into larger book chains across Canada in the coming months as well as publishing a second story.

I would like to thank my illustrator Haley Arnold, my publishing coach Jennifer Sparks, my wife Flora for her love, and my son-shine Griffyn, the inspiration behind the story.
Thank you and enjoy the book!
