Trauma in Women
How to Spot the Signs and Navigate Common Triggers as a Group Leader
With Cassandra Solano, LCSW
Tuesday September 29, 2020
Hosted by Flora Ware
It’s a sad reality that many women have experienced some kind of trauma. This can stem from childhood physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, intimate partner violence, mental health challenges, single traumatic events across the lifespan, or systemic oppression related to race or sexual orientation.
Research indicates that women are twice as likely to develop PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), experience a longer duration of traumatic symptoms and display more sensitivity to stimuli that remind them of the trauma.
As a coach, healer, or group leader working with women, you are in a role that requires skill and sensitivity in this area.
In this informative workshop with Cassandra Solano, Trauma-Informed Therapist and Women's Circle Leader, you'll learn how to spot the signs of trauma, navigate common triggers, and what to do when this comes up in your group programs, circles, and retreats.
This workshop is part of the Sacred Facilitators training program. It's being made publicly available to serve more group leaders and service providers on this important subject.

"When I first started facilitating workshops and women’s circles almost 20 years ago, I was totally clueless about trauma in women. I wasn't aware of common trauma triggers or how to best support the women I was working with. This workshop is the kind of training I WISH I’d had years ago, so I could be better prepared and informed on how to navigate this area, without going beyond my scope of practice. I now consider this ESSENTIAL EDUCATION for anyone in a service and leadership role supporting women."
